Senior Bookkeeper - London, N21 An experienced Bookkeeper is sought to join an established Chartered Certified Accountants. The Company An opportunity has arisen to work for a long established, family run accountancy firm based in North London. Our client provides accountancy services to number of small and medium sized businesses. Due to rapid growth and expansion plans, together with reorganisation requirements, our client is now seeking to recruit a professional and enthusiastic Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will have clear paths for career progression and will be expected to want such progression. The Role As a full-time Senior Bookkeeper, you will be expected to be able to complete VAT Returns with minimal supervision. Additional duties will include reconciliations of bank accounts and also both sales and purchase ledgers and control accounts. The entering of payroll journals and reconciliation of wages control, together with PAYE reconciliations is also expected. The Candidate The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years industry experience and ‘client facing’ experience is also advantageous. The candidate should have excellent organisational skills along with clear communication skills. Fluency in both written and verbal English is a must. The candidate must also be a confident individual who can work well under pressure and well within a team. The job requires the candidate to work on their own initiative but work closely and report directly to the Accounts Manager. They must carry a professional approach at all times, work proactively and work to tight deadlines. The role pays a basic salary of between £22,000 - £27,000, based on experience. Key Responsibilities Monthly bookkeeping duties including managing the ledgers, bank reconciliations, preparing accounts to trial balance Post sales and purchase invoices Post journals for wages & complete PAYE monthly slips Sales and Purchases ledger reconciliations VAT - Preparation of VAT returns, reconciliations and returns completed online Company Credit Cards - post invoices, payments and reconcile Petty Cash - post invoices, payments and reconcile Bank - post receipts and payments (in GBP, USD, EUROS and some other minor currencies) and allocate them with pending invoices, post nominal ledger receipts and payments and reconciliations Filing - sales and purchase invoices unpaid and paid Provide full reports to relevant departments when required Year End - Prepare reports and provide copy invoices for final accounts for company accountants.
